"The Handsome Man" / (Judge) Franklin P. Rowell

Advertising cover and letterhead, 1890. Rowell was a locally well-known eccentric in Newport, NH, involved in numerous business and civic projects. 
He was wont to wear a red cape and a tall silk hat. It is said that on one occasion, because of his extravagant dress, he got away with seating himself in 
the dignitaries' reviewing stand during a Boston parade.
